Los dos primeros tercios del libro nos cuenta como el joven Quetza crece bajo la civilización mexica, como consigue embarcarse en una “canoa” gigante y poner rumbo a Oriente en busca de la tierra de sus antepasados Aztlan...en el último tercio del libro, Quetza viaja por Europa, destacando los tópicos de los españoles, franceses, italianos; lo más negativo siempre hacia los españoles, y la Iglesia Católica...mezclando acontecimientos históricos que no podían estar sucediendo en 1490 (quema de brujas, comercio). Atraviesa el Mediterráneo, el mar Negro... y por arte de magia le encontramos en el Eúfrates...sigue rumbo la india, china, Japón....no le da tiempo más que a ir enumerando paises, ciudades, monumentos, hacer comparaciones sobre las culturas... para finalizar de nuevo en México atravesando el Pacífico...(algo que haría muchos años después Andrés de Urdaneta) en definitiva una idea a la que podría haber sacado más “jugo”, pero que no ha sabido desarrollar, y el desenlace lo resuelve en tres páginas.
Y si los acontecimientos europeos los cuenta deslavazados, algunos inventando, mezclado personajes históricos, al menos en lo concerniente a España; como puede confiar que todo lo que narra sobre la cultura mexica sea cierto.

Pot supuesto que existen otros referentes más serios, además de Cristóbal Colón, que hubieran encumbrado al susodicho escribiente; verbigracia, una historia vista con los ojos de Erik el Rojo, o una apuesta por los chinos, hubieran sido igualmente interesantes.

Tuve que leer este libro para la facultad, y ahora tengo que escribir una monografía sobre él. Y lo que me resulta muy dificil de este trabajo es hacerlo de forma objetiva, porque he leído muchos libros malos en mi vida pero pocos tan malos como este.
Creo que la idea es alucinante, pero el escritor dejó mucho que desear: mal redactado, pobremente desarrollado, y definitivamente dejó mucho que desear.
Definitivamente un libro para leer cuando estás en la costa sin televisión, ni internet, ni vida a tu alrededor.
